This method has been used for many years already in Indonesia bananna leaves and twine I believe, but the introduction of plastic packaging changed the situation here (Indonesia).
You will still see this tpye of packaging in small sellers or farmer’s market.
Not really sure why they decided to bundle two veggies together with the banana leaves though, seems unnecessary.
Some believe that the plastic epidemic will continue simply because the shale oil boom is suppressing the costs of plastics with low price feed stocks.
